Dear fellow punter,
If you're anything like me, you've probably thought the idea of finding a reliable betting service was nothing but a fantasy. You've been disappointed so many times, and spent hundreds of pounds on tipsters making false promises, not to mention betting systems that seem to hit a losing patch the same day you buy it!
Let me tell you, I know exactly what that feels
like.... my name's Paul Whelan.
Today I want to tell you a story. It's the Story of the Frustrated
Punter... how I went from watching paint dry to writing about horse
racing and betting systems (thanks to a chance discovery in the
local charity shop).
But before I start, here's my surprising admission...
I used to find horse racing extremely boring. In
fact, I thought it was a
complete waste of BBC Sport air-time. In fact I actually thought it
was like watching paint dry!
But let me explain...
Back in 1995 I saw an advert for a piece of betting system software,
and this completely changed my attitude to watching horse racing.
Because it was then that I started betting on the horses, and I gave
my ‘tips’ to my office colleagues where I worked. I gave
everyone the first two home in the famously
postponed Grand National in 1997.
To everyone in the office I was something of a HERO!
But this was the truth of it...
You see, I would only ever brag to people about my winning
bets. I didn’t keep records, but over the course of time I know I
was definitely losing money. And because often I kept disappearing
from the office to phone a tipster-line I was subscribing to, on
more than one occasion I got into trouble at work.
One summer evening in July of 1998 I blew the equivalent of three
months' mortgage payments on one horse. And it lost.
I’m embarrassed to admit this, but betting had pretty much taken
control of my life!
You see, here's the thing...
Making your betting pay is DIFFICULT!
Working 9-to-5 most people do not have the time to spend
HOURS AND HOURS studying the form-book and re-viewing race
videos.
It’s fair to say most tipster services and betting systems
DON'T MAKE A PROFIT!
So looking back, it was hardly surprising that I spent those years
losing money….
No matter how hard I tried, I found I was always having to top up my
betting accounts as they were continuously leaking money!
And then came my 'light-bulb' moment... I came across a book called
Picking Winners in my local charity shop. Rather than being
based upon form study, it focused on facts, figures, and statistics,
which I love.
I’m not going to say this book changed my life, but my betting
certainly started to improve. After reading that book from cover to
cover, probably two or three times….
….I realised I didn’t have to rely upon tipsters
and other
people’s betting systems.
After a few months trial and errors (mostly errors!) I was able to
rate races myself with a fair degree of accuracy and success. And I
was ALMOST making my betting pay!
Put it this way, I started to lose less!
After one full season, looking back at my records the figures showed
I would have broken even, if it were not for betting tax which was
payable back then. The next year was better still, and I found my
hobby of betting on horses had cost next to nothing in cash terms.
The following year was a significant milestone for me. The efforts I
was putting into developing my strategies started to pay dividends.
It had taken me three full seasons refining and developing my
approach before I could finally say I had made a
profit for the year.
It was only £428 but it was a profit!
Meanwhile I was also looking at other statistics-based betting
strategies. I learned how to uncover trends, and also how to
research niche betting systems.
All the time, I was gaining confidence in my betting abilities.
Then in 2004 I teamed up with a long-standing friend of mine, with
the idea of producing a helpful web site that would serve as ‘a
road-map for the frustrated punter’. It was perhaps an ambitious
goal, but we felt it was a worthy one. And soon after, we show-cased
SkyBlueKangaroo.com to the online community.
When it came online back then SkyBlueKangaroo was one of the first
in a new breed of horse racing and betting systems review web sites.
In more than five years of reviewing and writing about betting
systems and racing tipsters, I had often thought about releasing my
own service.
I had often thought about it, but I always seemed to end up deciding
AGAINST actually doing it.
This is what put me off the idea...
Having spent many, many hundreds of pounds on systems and tipsters
in the past, I had been disappointed on almost every occasion. Most
services do not actually provide much of a ‘service’ anyway. They
simply spoon-feed their customers with names of horses, with no
explanation behind their selections.
Quite simply, the vast majority of betting systems and tipster
services do not live up to the hype. I didn’t want to find myself
pigeon-holed as ‘just another chancer’ releasing an over-hyped
system and making all sorts of false promises.
The Truth Is That Betting Services That Actually Deliver Are About As Easy to Find As Rocking-Horse Poo!!
….and that is why I have never released my own horse racing betting
service.
Until Last Year . . .
I’ve got literally dozens of obscure little betting systems that I’ve researched and tracked. But because they focus more often than not upon bigger-priced value-odds horses, they can suffer long losing runs. I know from experience that can be extremely frustrating as a paying punter, which is why I very rarely share them.
But I still knew deep down that I could bring at least some of my
betting strategies to the public.
Early in the New Year of 2010 I spent a lot of my time
agonising over which of my methods could best be presented in a
racing service that people might be prepared to pay for. And I also
desperately wanted to provide a much higher quality service, with
well-researched information, that doesn’t patronize members by
‘spoon-feeding’ them horses to back.
And in May of 2010 I was FINALLY happy to unveil a racing service I
was proud
to share with a very limited number of like-minded people….
If you had all but given up hope of ever finding a reliable betting
service, please just ponder on this…. The method that I am going to
release as a service, and make public has been one of the
foundations of my personal betting strategies for nearly EIGHT
years.
It is not a 'wonder system'... it is
not a virtual 'cash-machine' like you
hear about in the email messages we all get in our spam folders
every day.
This service typically returns a profit in 8-9 months every year, and during 2010 we saw nine profitable months, and three losing months.
It has highlighted regular winners at 28/1, 25/1, 22/1, 20/1, 14/1, 11/1, 10/1, and many more besides….
This service is called 'Horse Racing Trends'
Before I go any further, you should know what Horse Racing Trends is
NOT....
-
It is NOT based on any mechanical rules-based systems
-
It does NOT ‘spoon-feed’ you names of horses, and what I mean by that is that it will not simply give you a list of horses to back, with no explanation why, or no rationale behind the bet. This service will treat you like an adult, not like a baby.
-
It is NOT the Holy Grail and I’m sorry, but it will not allow you to give up your day job tomorrow.
If you were looking or hoping for a betting service that ticks those
boxes above, then I hope you will appreciate I’m being straight and
honest with you here – Horse Racing Trends cannot promise what
you’re looking for.
OK, this is the view from ten thousand feet up, the big picture if
you like. I’ll zoom in and show you the details in a minute, but in
a nutshell, this is what Horse Racing Trends is all about.
It’s about Trends Analysis. History shows us that the same sort of
horse wins certain races, year in and year out. They nearly all
follow trends set by horses that have won the race in years gone by.
Horse Racing Trends sets out to identify these trends, and then
highlight the horses that most closely match the profiles of
previous winners.
The service focuses on the most valuable races, so that’s the
Group and Listed flat races, Heritage Handicaps, Graded National
Hunt races, and all the major Festivals such as Royal Ascot,
Cheltenham, Aintree, Goodwood, and so on.
Now it’s time to zoom in, take a closer look under the hood, and
show you what’s included in this service in more detail. I’m going
to show you what you’re going to get when you sign up for Horse
Racing Trends and log in to the members only web site.
You’re going to get a
full explanation of trends analysis and how it
finds winning horses.
You will see a horse by horse account of results, showing how my
betting suggestions have fared over the last 12 months.
Let’s make one thing clear... Horse Racing Trends will give you all
the clues you need to find lots of winners. More often than not I
will give you my opinion of the best bets, but I’m not going to be
offended if you ignore my opinion. You can choose to follow me, or
you can interpret the analysis in your own way, and come to your own
different conclusions.
Remember, I’ve created this service to give you the information you
need to find winners. It will not simply spoon feed you with horses
names.
You will also be able to view a schedule of forthcoming races to be
featured and covered by the service.
Because I know you will want to see these, here are the results of
my own personal selections throughout last year....
-
December: 9 bets, 2 winners, 6 points lost (SP)
-
November: 17 bets, 4 winners, 24 points profit

153 Points Profit to industry standard Starting Prices
I am targeting over 300 races over the course of the year, mostly
from the UK racing calendar, but also taking in a handful of
international races.
For each featured race you will be able to see how I
narrow down the
field by applying the trends, in order to arrive at a shortlist of
strong race contenders. I will nominate my selection for the horse
which in my opinion most closely matches the profile of previous
winners. You can also see the top three horses according to my
unique HorseRacingTrends Race Ratings.
The schedule of forthcoming races will help you make a diary note of
when to log in for race analysis, but you will never miss a race as
I will also be notifying members by email whenever new information
has been posted on the site.
There is a Frequently Asked Questions page to help you with the most
commonly-asked queries.
And I will also be producing a
regular newsletter to keep members up
to speed with how the service is performing, and anything else
newsworthy.
I hope you will agree at this point, this service is
fully loaded.
By now you may also be thinking “OK Paul, It Sounds Good,
But How Much Is HorseRacingTrends Going To Cost?”
Well, this was a difficult one for me, because
last year was the first
time I had ever released my own service. So I have to confess, I sought
some outside advice on pricing. I approached a large internet
publishing company, explained my service to them, and the content it
would deliver, and asked what they thought I should charge.
They compared HorseRacingTrends to one of their premium services,
and they suggested I could easily justify charging an annual fee of
£600 or a £50 monthly subscription.
Certainly I could
have made a lot of money for myself with those charges.
But my reaction was that I did not think those costs sat very well
with the original goal of SkyBlueKangaroo, which is to bring premium
quality betting advice to as many people who will make use of it.
And I’m also keen in these cautious times financially, to offer as
much value as I possibly can.
So I’ve decided to offer two payment options to help as many people
who genuinely want to subscribe to HorseRacingTrends, get involved
if they want to.
And you’ll be pleased to hear I am
not going to charge the prices suggested by that
publishing house!
| How Much To Join
HorseRacingTrends? Monthly Subscription The first option will let you spread the cost of joining across the entire season, and its a £27 monthly subscription. or alternatively..... Season Ticket This second option will allow you to lock in some additional value, with a single down-payment and a choice of two season tickets. £97 will give you Six Months membership, and saves you money as it works out at only £16.17 per month. £147 gives you a whole Twelve Months access to the membership site, and that works out at just £12.25 per month. In fact that’s less than 50 pence per race! |
Now, I looked at those costs, and I thought...
“That’s more like it, I’m happy with that...”
But I still wanted to add some more value
Since I gave away some of my collection of
micro-niche betting
systems last week, I’ve received loads of emails along the line of
“thanks for all these systems Paul, but its going to take ages every
day sifting out all the qualifying horses. And I haven’t got the
time.”
So I’m going to post all the daily qualifiers
from my current portfolio of systems on the web site, and
everyone who joins HorseracingTrends can also benefit from these
niche betting systems, without the time-consuming work of finding
the selections.
I think I could easily charge £47 a month for that as a stand-alone
service, but I’m going to include it inside HorseracingTrends as a
free bonus!
But I was still not 100% satisfied I was going the extra mile for
you...
As well as best of breed betting information, and profitable betting systems, I intend to give world class customer service and support.
I don’t say this lightly....
Most service providers and system sellers are ecstatic once they
have taken your money, then their enthusiasm to answer your emails
seems to disappear. Or am I the only one to notice this?
By contrast, I want to over-deliver, and
go beyond your expectations
by being there to help after you have joined.
But this leaves me in an awkward position. Obviously I want lots of
people to join HorseracingTrends. This would be good for me.
But I am not blowing hot air when I say I want to look after my
customers as best I can.
To do this effectively when I
first launched this service I decided to limit the number of spaces
to 300
I was happy with that figure, and it was a number I
was confident I
could manage and give my personal attention.
Believe me,
this was not a corny marketing scarcity trick. As soon as
the first 300 members signed up, which was within four days I
promptly closed the doors.
I've been wrestling with this decision since before Christmas, and I've thought long and hard about opening up the doors again.
But I have decided to extend the number of members by a further 150 spaces.
At the moment the number of people expressing an interest in
HorseracingTrends has overwhelmed me. Much more than expected, and I
am truly humbled. Obviously not everyone who says they’re interested
will end up buying. But if only one person in ten does sign up, then
Horseracing Trends will be sold out.
I Don’t Want You To Miss Out....
So if you know you want to join, then this is what you need to do.
Anyway, that’s enough from me today. I want to thank you for reading
all the way to this point and whatever you decide to do, I wish you
all the very best of success with your betting.
Above all, Enjoy your punting! See you soon.

PS. I understand at this point you may well have some questions
about Horse Racing Trends that are perhaps not answered above. So
I've tried to answer some of these questions here...
If Horse Racing Trends is that good, why aren't you keeping it
secret? Why would anyone sell a profitable betting system?
This is probably the most commonly asked question, any time a new
betting service or system is put up for sale. But it is nonetheless
an obvious question.
I am happy to make this service available to the public for two
reasons:
First, as long as I restrict the number of people involved, I can
still offer this service publicly without it affecting my own
profits.
Second, I have been asked on numerous occasions if I would ever
offer my own service. So far, I have been reluctant to do so; but
now I am sharing my advice with a few people, and it gives me the
opportunity to earn a few quid in return for my efforts.
Of course, if you are uncomfortable with that, I totally respect
your opinion, but this will not be for you. We can still part as
friends.
By sharing your selections, surely the profits will all but
disappear?
Well yes, theoretically they would.... but
they haven't so far, and I don't think they will.
If a large enough number of people were all betting the same horse,
then yes, any value in the price would be eroded. Which is why I
have taken the decision to limit the number of membership spaces.
Will there be betting every day?
No, not every day. Horse Racing Trends will provide you with plenty
of action with more than 300 races throughout the year. But it is
not a daily entertainment service.
I am focusing on the top flight racing throughout the season. This
means the Pattern Races (Group and Listed) on the flat, and Class 1
National Hunt jumps races. I will also take in the valuable Heritage
Handicaps and a handful of international races.
This level of racing usually takes place on a Saturday, but there
will also be some mid-week racing. Members will never miss a race,
as there is a schedule of forthcoming events inside the members
area, and I will be giving plenty of notice to members via email.
When will you be posting your selections?
I will often post the 'profile of the winner' for certain races a
few days before the race. My final analysis will be available to
view after the 48 hour declarations, and it will always be my
intention to give my selections the evening before racing at the
latest. Life happens, and on occasion I anticipate I will fall foul
of this promise, but that will be the exception to the rule.
Will you be guaranteeing this service?
I would not dream of selling anything
that did not meet my customers' expectations, and if I were
providing a tipster service you might rightly expect my selections
to make a profit, or else receive a full refund.
However, I am not selling a tipster service here, and I am not promising to make you a profit. What I do promise to provide you is a comprehensive, accurate, and up-to-date body of research work and statistical analysis. Additionally, I will give you my considered interpretation of the data, which has historically proven to be profitable.
When you subscribe to Horse Racing Trends you have immediate access to the knowledge base and information published to the members community, as well as customer support, and any other bonus products and services that may be included from time to time. For this reason I do not offer refunds of any kind.
I do of course welcome and encourage any pre-sales questions you may have. I want you to be comfortable this service will benefit you, before you make any payment.
You can contact me by email at support AT horseracingtrends DOT com
Furthermore, I will be happy to grant upon request a one day access pass to anyone who wishes to look around the members area before joining.
I hope I have been conservative in my
description of what the service will provide. I do not make any wild
claims, and I am not promising
hundreds of pounds profit within a few days or even weeks. I have
deliberately priced the service to deter time-wasters. So all I ask
is that you are committed to this service before joining, and that
you do not expect a profit the first day out of the traps! Enough said.
Why is Horse Racing Trends so expensive?
My immediate answer would be that I don't think it is expensive.
But let me go a bit further than my own biased opinion... The
pricing of Horse Racing Trends was a difficult one for me, and I
actually sought outside advice. A large internet publishing house
suggested I could easily charge £600 in an annual fee, or perhaps a
£50 monthly subscription. I wasn't comfortable with their
suggestion, especially in these cautious times.
On the one hand I wanted to make the service accessible to as many
punters as possible, who genuinely wanted to take advantage of the
information, and would actually use it.
Then on the other hand, I wanted to deter the time-wasters.
Given what I am putting into the whole package, I think it offers
outstanding value for money - and there are many other products out
there providing much less, and charging an awful lot more.
I'm proud of this service, but I only want to share it with a
limited number of like-minded people. I'm not a salesman, don't want
to be, and if I have to start 'selling' anyone on the idea of
subscribing to Horse Racing Trends, then it probably isn't for them.
If you need to contact me...
